Students from outside Europe might wonder: what is the difference between a university and a university of applied sciences?
To keep it short: In the higher education in Finland there are two different types of educational institutions: universities and universities of applied sciences (UAS). Whereas universities promote research and provide academic higher education based on research, universities of applied sciences emphasize their connection with working life. So the UAS provided education is more practical.
